2009 CAF Champions League -- Group Stages

The 2009 CAF Champions League, the 45th edition of Africa's premier club football tournament and the 13th edition under the current CAF Champions League format, is on the verge of beginning the group stages.

In case you forgot, Egyptian outfit Al-Ahly are the defending champions, but were ousted in the second round by Nigeria's Kano Pillars.

Group A

-- Al-Merreikh (Sudan)
-- Al-Hilal (Sudan)
-- Kano Pillars (Nigeria)
-- ZESCO United (Zambia)

Group B

-- Étoile du Sahel (Tunisia)
-- TP Mazembe (DR Congo)
-- Monomotapa United (Zimbabwe)
-- Heartland (Nigeria)

Match action begins on July 17th.

The winner and the runner-up of each group will move on to the Semifinal Round.
